Cell Tower Failure and Intrusion Alarms, by Rottweiler Security

Just like your business, cell tower sites also need security protection.  They pose unique challenges because of locations, the presence of high voltage, the type of equipment in a tower site and authorities that will be notified when a system fails or break in occurs.  Criminal trespassing, system failure and outages, high or low temperature on the site or critical tower lighting failure that requires notification to the FAA.

Because of FAA reporting requirements and copper theft that continues to rise, it is now necessary for even cell tower owners to put alarm notification systems in their site locations.  These are not your typical security systems and they do have specific requirements that owners must follow to avoid steep fines.

Notification of events that happen at site locations requires a special notification system that will notify different individuals depending on the event.  The type of security event will dictate which authority needs to be notified.  Responce times are critical.  Timely notification of  system outages  protects the owners of liability, further systems damage, criminal trespass vandalism or theft that can result in site damages.  All are serious but tower lighting failure reporting is most critical.

During construction and continuing there after, tower lighting failures (for any reason), must be reported to the FAA so that they can notify aircraft operators and they be forewarned.  FAA requirements specify that if a tower lighting system fails on a tower, the site owner has 15 minutes to submit a report or risk a large FAA fine for endangering the flying public.  Rottweiler Security provides the systems that reach beyond traditional security and notification and provides the products and services that address this issue as well as many others.

Navigation lighting must remain on to give pilots a visual indicator informing the pilot of the presence of a tower.  Tower lightning controls must also have alarms to indicate lamp failures of red incandescent lights, flash failures of white strobe lights, and / or power outages to the lighting system.

The FAA then notifies the pilots of the potential hazard using the NOTAM notification system.  When you have multiple sites, multiple systems and demographically diverse, how do you do this at 2 am when the tower lights fail?
