Danger On The Home Stretch, by Duke Smith

Everyone has that unexpected last minute run to the grocery store or convenience store for the forgotten grocery item that you have to have for dinner.  You set your alarm system and out the door you run.  Now you are on your way home and are on the home stretch.  You believe that your home is secure, but is it?  How do you know?  Probably no one has ever contacted you to ask if your security system was working and not knowing is the issue.

Old security systems require a modem to operate and if it was hit by lightning during the last thunder storm your life survival may depend on it functioning.  This is the first problem.  When the repairman that came last week to fix the phone line, did he disconnect the line?  If he did, did they attach it correctly?  Did you test it to make sure it was?  What if the line was cut while I was at work?

Testing your security system, no matter what the weather conditions or believed functionality should always be tested monthly, your life may depend on this!  You should also have smoke detectors connected to your security system as well as carbon monoxide detectors that also notify monitoring.  If you do not have both, get them and have them installed.  Being brain injured for the remainer of your life because you did not take the time to address this will seem unbearable.  We offer discounts to our subscribers to offset the costs.  Both of these areas are important enough for us to insure our customers have them.

To test your security system, call your monitoring center and notify them that you are about to activate your alarm.  Set your alarm and activate it.  Next, set it off.  Watch how long it takes for them to respond taking note on how long it took for them to contact you.  If it is more than a minute, you need to upgrade.  If they do not contact you, you have issues.

The time you wait will be the time you will wait for every security breech, fire report or even distress alerts.  That one minute (or more) is the time that you are in full danger and your safety is at jeopardy.   If you were driving home from that store you went to 15 minutes ago and a home invasion just occurred, how would you know in the blind minutes before you arrive?  Our monitoring services offer Text-to-cell-phone technology that would have notified you that the front door opened.  If you know that someone should not be there, you can avoid being a victim of that home invasion.  Think it can't happen, think again!  This one happend just the other day.  When you watch the link, the neighbor was home at the time and never heard a thing.

One of the biggest advantages of having our camera triggered monitoring is that you are sent a message with video each time the camera is triggered.  You can actually see the intruder that entered the home and can avoid becoming that victim.

Rottweiler Security provides a full range of security services, card access, alarms and much more.
