Honestly, what will it take for the prison system officials to realize that aggressive home invasion convicted criminals do not rehabilitate? Time after time I see and read articles that involve the convicted criminal who has already been involved in a home invasion once, when released, perform another violent against someone who was vulnerable. Some examples are listed below.
In an article posted by the Tampa Bay Online we read, "A month after his release from state prison, a convicted sex offender is wanted in the rape of an elderly woman...He pleaded guilty in 1985 to rape, burglary and home invasion and was sentenced to 28 years in prison plus 10 years of probation, Assistant State Attorney Pam Bondi said. He served about half of his prison term."
Then there is the man reported on ABC that was convicted, sentenced to 50 years and released "after serving just a dozen years in Leavenworth Prison in 1988, he allegedly turned Dugard into a sex slave and fathered two daughters by her - right under the noses of parole officers who were supposed to monitoring his every move." A total break down of the system designed to track child predators. Jaycee Lee Duguard was only 11 years old when she was abducted but praise God she is now safe.
But when you learn of such heinous crimes you realize that there are allot of very sick people out there and to deny that they exist leads some of our government officials to praise themselves on the efforts of protecting our society. Even at the U.S. Department of Justice they have jumped on the band wagon of "crime is declining". In order to illustrate this the Department of Justice praises themselves with "crime statistics are on the decline" reports, yet each year I talk to more and more victims of the crimes. Are they on drugs or just live in their own world! They need to interview Jaycee Lee Duguard. They need to see if she feels that crime or if crime statics are declining. Usually the younger you are, the more likely you are of becoming a victim of a violent crime.
What is needed in my opinion is instruction of how to avoid being a home invasion or rape statistic. Living on the edge with no protection, no security system or plan of evacuation is just saying to every passing by intruder to "come on in and see if I will survive the invasion". The added benefits of protecting the property, and yourself in the process, with reduced home owners insurance premiums allows the platform to implement fire and carbon detectors on that same platform.
Your Tip of the day, test your security system, smoke detectors and make sure you have put into place the steps to protect yourself and your family.
