DeKalb County Police appears to waver in the lack of leadership since the firing of Former DeKalb County Police Chief Terrell Bolton. Terrell Bolton was certainly overdue in his employment termination for his own lack of compliance with Georgia State Laws and in my opinion certainly deserved being terminated. Has the new DeKalb leadership improved any? Is Chief William O’Brien any better with his leadership of protecting citizens of home invasion and its "mission of fighting crime?" Not in this case and if this is what DeKalb residences can expect, it's time to fire him too.
DeKalb County Police's commitment to protect homeowners against home invasion in former years has now led to the arrest of a homeowner protecting himself against a home intrusion burglar. The arresting DeKalb officer charged a homeowner with protecting their home against home invasion intruder while he was trying to kick in the front door.
The homeowner charged in WSBTV.com's "Homeowner Charged After Shooting Would-Be Robber" report indicated that the individual was inside the home during the day light attempt of a home invasion. Posted at the bottom of the on line article, “...For something like this to happen in broad daylight…it’s scary. It’s really scary.” Scary? It is life threatening! The intruder tried to kick in the front door! Had he been successful, would the home owner been alive afterwards?
60 % of all home invasions usually have a sexual assault, and DeKalb officers should be celebrating that the homeowner took out a home invasion burglar and be thankful for the job necessary done by the homeowner before they became murder victims. Maybe the arresting officer forgot about a few other victims in the area from home invasion or the hundreds of people shot and killed each year from home invasion. Common sense from other counties saved the lives of the homeowners.
Now to be fair to the other police officers in DeKalb that do protect the citizens of the county, we want to say thank you. But to the officer that arrested a home owner from becoming the next murder victim we say, find a new job! I think you have forgotten who you swore to protect. Is this what DeKalb citizen's can expect from the new leadership in DeKalb County?
