Protecting Your Child From The Babysitter, by Duke Smith

Like all crime child abuse is not a pleasant topic to write about because of the helplessness of the victims.  I think the older I get the more outraged I become over some of the senseless crimes that are allowed to go under-punished.  A few years in prison for the crimes committed against children in my opinion is completely unacceptable and should be life sentences without parole.  Unfortunately, children are often put at risk by the parents without the parents really realizing the threat of a sexual predator or abusive adult they may have introduced into the life of their child.

Current statistics show that 25 % of all women have been abused and almost 20% of all men have been abused before they reach the age of 18.  Babysitters,   family friends, camp counselors, school teachers, step parents and step children associated with remarriage often are the perpetrators.  90% off all sexual offenders are someone that the child knew.

With the ever increasing home invasion statistics so increase the sexual assaults.  60% of all sexual assaults happen in a home invasion.  Prevention from this crime is usually preventable by an active security system with real-time system notification and posted signs.  Older system notification methods developed over 28 years ago do not notify that an intruder has entered your home fast enough.  Technology today allows for delivery of notifications to your cell phone so that you do not enter a home that has an intruder present in the home.

The State of Georgia lists sexual predators on their site so that you may be aware of the preditors that reside in your area.  However, most parents do not check this list regularly to see how close the threats really are.  Even here the problem of a babysitter sex predator or abusive child care worker will not be listed on the site.

Babysitter abuse is more common than you probably realize.  Often with the parent out of the house other types of crime does not become detected or often unreported.  Prescription drug or alcohol experimentation often go undetected when a parent is absent from the home.  Because the babysitter is often a teenager they often lack the skills necessary for control in the event of child behavior and result to abusive behavior to control a child.  Placing a camera that is not known to the babysitter offers knowledge of the activity in a room while you are away at the movies.  Rottweiler Security offers several different models to choose from and each has the recording time necessary to record the room while you are away.
