Simple tips to avoid abduction by Duke Smith

I received an email from a friend a few days ago and regarding how to avoid becoming a victim of abduction and some helpful tips that may save your life.  As we receive more traffic to our blog, I modified the list a little and I thought it better to place it here as a permanent list that could be modified as additional ways are pointed out.  Some are specific to women, but everyone should take note.

Never just sit when you are in a parking lot.  Often predators are watching for a victim in areas that offer opportunities to surface.  When you get in your car, lock it and leave.

Do not put your makeup on in the car parking lot.  It offers the same opportunity for abduction because you are not paying attention to your surroundings and if you are sympathetic to strangers you are an easy target.

Always look into your car before getting into it.  Everyone is in a hurry these days.  All too often we do not pay attention to areas that are usually safe.  While shopping, you do not know the status of your automobile.   It is concievable that someone could have jimmied the lock, allowing them entrance into your car.  Make sure you look into the car prior to jumping in to make sure someone is not in the automobile.

Never walk in stairways alone, especially at night.  Stairways are often hidden areas that are not as traveled or are not open areas in the building such as elevators and forums usually are, especially at night.

Prior to leaving the building at night, check the CCTV camera system, especially at night.  At night, there usually are areas that have unseen and have hidden spaces that an abductor can lurk.  If your company does not have a CCTV camera system, they need one!  Many parking lots are very dark after hours, have hidden areas and offer a partial view of the entire building.  Because of the partial view and hidden areas, building occupants exit before knowing the environment they have stepped into.
